Polyoxymethylene is also known under the abbreviation POM, or as (Poly-)Acetal or Polyformaldehyde.

In textile terms, it is mostly used in the production of filter fabrics for automotive due to its very good resistance to fuels and chemicals. Furthermore, Polyoxymethylene also has a high stiffness, high mechanical strength (even at low temperatures), a low water absorption and a good dimensional stability at high temperatures.
