Polyethylene Naphtalate PEN
INTRODUCTION TO POLYETHYLENE NAPHTALATE
Polyethylene Naphtalate, abbreviated PEN, belongs to the Polyester family and is produced by polycondensation.
In terms of properties, PEN is located between PET and Polyimide. PEN differs from PET by a better resistance to temperature (continuous operating temperature at 160°C), chemicals or UV radiation. PEN is also superior to PET when it comes to dimensional stability.
PEN is thus often used as substiute packaging material for PET, for when foods need to be packaged hot.
