Epitropic fibers have also good anti-bacteria properties. The growth of micro-organisms can contribute to a whole range of issues such as the following:
- Infections
- Odors
- Product Deterioration Food Poisoning
- Discoloration
Electrical resistance of Epitropic fiber is 10 - 100 Megaohms/cm.
Approximately 1% of Epitropic fiber is necessary in fabrics for industrial filters and safety work wear. 2-5% Epitropic fiber is necessary in fabrics for industrial filters and safety workwear. Resistivity is approx.
1-100 Megaohms/sq but is dependent on the fabric and its construction.
Furthermore, Epitropic fibers are resistant to chemical agents as follows:
Acids: |
Except under the most extreme conditions, the rate of acid hydrolysis is very slow, therefore good resistance to the majority of mineral and organic acids can be expected. |
Alkalis: |
Aqueous alkalis except ammonia and its derivates cause progressive solution of the fiber. Ammonia, quaternary bases, amines etc. degrade the fiber without dissolving it. MAximum level recommended is at pH 10. |
Oxidising agents: |
Epitropic fiber has excellent resistance to ocidising agents and withstands bleaching processes. |
Reducing agents: |
Epitropic fiber has excellent resistance to reducing agents. |
Water / steam: |
Good |
Long term exp. to dry heat: |
Excellent |
